Houle-Thibault residence by Chevalier Morales architectes

This property is situated on a hill with a large domain of Mount Tremblant. Call Thibault, this house aims to remember the true traditions of wood construction used in the place.

Sigueindo with the client’s initial request which pointed to a house made entirely of wood, additionally worked with a local craftsman and after a large number of variations in the frameworks it was the easiest solution with a construction system that managed to hide the anchorages and therefore give a complete continuity in the wood.
The orientation, climate and environment were key factors in the formal outcome of the home, which was based on the rescue of a vernacular type of wood. Its foundation directly on the rock also gives a meaning linked to emerge directly from nature.

Early work pointed to compress the housing at its center with the goal of making the light entering the master bedroom and family room. By entering this home, the space opens into a double height, which leads to four windows which allow the view over the treetops.
