Innovative Design: Nestle headquarters in Queretaro

After creating a tempting chocolate museum for Nestlé, Rojkind Arquitectos have been challenged to put up a new design a new facility in Querétaro, with laboratories, offices, an auditorium and a tasting area. That’s not much of a deal unless you consider the fact that in 1996 the center of Querétaro was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. But much can be done with a little creativity, isn’t it? The innovative architects managed to work around the conundrum by excavating a series of intersected spheres from orthogonal buildings, excavations which repeated through an open and continuous space. This along with simple use of semi-spherical domes ensured that the latest “nest” for Nestlé, turned out as an absolute masterpiece. – via
