Mod Red Rooms at the Augarten Hotel
Graz, Austria

The Augarten looks like the kind of building that Michelangelo Antonioni or Jean-Luc Godard might have used for a movie set. If you're a fan of mid-century mod style, lipstick red, or Cappellini furniture, this is your place.

Architect Günther Domenig designed the glass and steel building, which is furnished with pieces from Vitra, Cappellini, Ligne Roset, and other modern retailers. That incredible LEGO-style desk in the first photo is made of aluminum and created by Austrian designer Andreas Thaler, and the chair is Vernor Panton's famous one-piece cantilevered S-chair, produced by Vitra.
In addition to an impressive group of mod furniture, the Augarten has an art collection that includes 70 original pieces. Art is integrated into the rooms, hallways, and public spaces of the hotel, while austere white walls create a gallery-like setting in which to display it.
