Is the traditional Gion district of Kyoto. The century-old wooden houses share a typical feature: the shutters, made of bamboo, wood and rice paper. We wanted to find a way to generate a screen to do the same, but in a new way. We chose some leaves of a small cherry.
In our office, organize cherry leaves on a table lit and photographed. Our image was transformed, with the help of computers, in a pattern of holes.

The resulting walls have a “screen page” that looks monolithic, actually read in a transparent manner: a film of titanium, creating an intriguing play of light and shadow on the inside.
