This clean and simple two story house is situated within its landscape. Constructed on land that used to be a fruit garden, the views from the house feature tree groves beyond, mango, peach, avocado, and lucuma. Located 55 kilometers East of the city of Lima, this country house in Santa Eulalia sites 1,200m above seas level, between the mountains.  Follow the break for more photographs and drawings.

The first floor is made of stone, like the traditional stone walls called “pirkas” that shape the Peruvian mountain landscape. The living area is one single space complete with living room, dining room and kitchen altogether, next to the wooden terrace that lies over the creek.

The second floor is wooden, from sustainable sources, recreating the colors and the skyline from the mountains that surround the valley. The bedrooms make up this floor, as if it were an attic where a group of friends decided to spend the night.

With mild weather throughout the year, the house was designed to gain heat from the sun during the warm days and save it for the cool nights. It has natural cross ventilation throughout the house, and views framing the valley, the mountains and the garden. There is one special window in the master bedroom to watch the moon and the stars at night, and the first rays of sun in the mornings hitting on the mountaintops. Solar heaters warm the water for the house and the pool, waste water is locally treated and after that filtered through the ground to water the main trees.
