INFLUX_STUDIO shared their new project for Newark’s Visitors Center.
The architecture of the NVC takes the simplicity and elegance of a paper boat/plane as inspiration. The building is conceived as a hybrid of those images, both symbolically related to Newark historic development. In a particular way, our proposal can be defined as an instrument to observe the city in a different way.

Our proposal can be defined as a hybrid that merges cultural, social, public, private, and iconic, creating a dynamic civic building for a wider public into a one unique urban device.

The Forum is the nerve center of the complex. Two asymmetrical slopes facing one each other containing the public reunion and meeting program (auditorium, informal projections, information center) The Forum has a grand vertical atrium that link the underground basis, containing principals NVC’s facilities ( Employee zone, Utility zone and partial Public zone) to the events and venues facilities.

This atrium provides a living dynamism to whole building, by a network of stairs and terraces that occupy the expanded stair landings, visitors climbing and descending stairs seeing each other, socializing in informal ways and spaces, entering and exiting conferences or meetings will bring a new urban experience at Newark riverfront.
