These studio apartments by Tokyo-based firm AAT+Makoto Yokomizo Architects are confined within an exceptionally limited area and designed in an exceptionally minimalistic fashion. Sharing a motorcycle garage on the ground level, the transparent residences float above the street and put each unit’s activity on display.

The floor plans are designed to achieve the most efficiency in the given space and by raising the ceiling to 3.4 meters, the living components are basically stacked upon the vertical plane. The bathroom rests on an elevated platform, allowing the space beneath to be occupied by the individual. With the higher ceilings, the abundance of light opens the kitchen and dining zones. The walls are finished with rounded edges to trick the eye into making corners look undefined and infinite.
