Justification of the solution composition adopted.
Medellin is geography, is mountain.
The city is nestled in the
northern Andes, in one of the most topographically broken Colombia, its main feature is determined by its mountains, is this geography that defines the identity and image of the city, is what its inhabitants take as an element of identification. It is this image of the city pointing the proposal as part of its landscape and inspire the building and interpretation of the topography.

Landscape architecture
More than a building construction is proposed operations of a geography that is part of the valley as a mechanism for organizing the program and in the area, allowing partially hidden addresses highlight the irregular contours of mountains, if not as metaphor as a way of organizing space in place, folded and clipped a building as the hills. A building and landscape trimencionaliza redefines the folded structure of the mountain as a form and space, hence arises its order structure, negating the idea of landscape as a background and enhancing the building ambiguity-landscape.

Justification for the urban integration of the proposal.
The place
This border city is composed of an intricate network of trails product shift in the sloping topography with no gathering places and plazas. The project is organized under two structures: the first by buildings, landscape (rocks) and the second on a platform that integrates and transforms your deck into a square viewpoint towards the valley, so the building construction power a meeting place, multiplying the connections for the meeting, and allowing it to rise as a landmark in the area.

The building as an icon.
The sector consists of small brick houses built self fruit and greenery waste resulting from the inability to build on it down the slopes so steep, this organization produces a uniform texture of town without any visible element of hierarchy is why the proposed building project for the city as a building-landscape, as an icon, built the place and keeps the tension, the geography as an element of hierarchy and the architecture and texture. The project is visible from much of the city as a symbol of the new Medellin, making people identify their industry and build a greater sense of belonging, so much so that today is one of the sights of the city.

General construction characteristics of the building.
The project proposes a double supporting structure: the first consists of an articulated metal membrane which is self supporting and arming the outer skin panels plated league slate, the second by a particular portal frame structure that makes up the internal volume dilates the skin to allow light to enter from above. The platform consists of a mixed structure of steel columns and concrete plates, the materials used were, black slate, stained glass and various wood veneers, stone floors. Develop a mechanism is temperature control, a "thermosyphon" through the creation of a system of air circulation upstream (negative pressure), removing excess heat and allowing the optimization of solar energy.

Other aspects.
Environment and atmosphere.
In addition to building an iconic building that was recognizable from the valley, the other premise was to develop a building inside the user and decontextualized him out of his relationship with his immediate environment of poverty, building a warm atmosphere and reflection, based on Overhead light entering, and that in turn allows an appropriate environment for study and reading, which is why the building looks shyly to the city through the small windows that suggest the relationship with the valley, leaving the light penetrates through the top.
