The Holmenkollen hill plays a significant part identifying Oslo. In the Oslo panorama its characteristic profile is a clear icon, up close its majestic steepness rises towards the sky, making heads tilt and from the top, the panorama view towards the fjord are fantastic. It is a building beyond conventions, and it is no wonder that it is one of Oslo’s most visited tourist attractions. To create a new slope on the soil of the old requires full awareness of its traditions.

This family dwelling is located on one of Bergen’s most attractive sites, overlooking the southern fjords and the West coast archipelago. The site comprises a rocky outcrop together with some garden space, and as this is a very small site, the intention of the design was to have just as much outside space left at the end as when we started. To achieve this we constructed a 10 cm contour map of the site, allowing us to create a perfect fit between the terrain and the proposed structure.

The Summer house is located on the coast of Vestfold in the southern part of Norway.
The house replaces an older building at the site. To get the planning permit, the project had to be well adjusted to the terrain, both in terms of shape, scale, material and color. The house and terraces are partly built upon existing stone walls, the parts of the walls which are new are made of stones from the blasting at the site.

The Edge House is located at Kolbotn, a suburb south of Oslo.
The client, a young couple, asked for a spectacular house on a limited budget. They had purchased a challenging site with 8 meters height difference from the access road to a plateau, and they wanted a house that “looked like you could shoot a James Bond movie in it”.

Gunnar’s House : By Huus Og Heim Architecture

Os i Østerdalen, Norway

The house is built in a residential area in the forest in Os i Østerdalen in Norway. The client wanted to preserve as much of the site’s natural character as possible and build a house of wood, based on the traditional 6″ timber frame construction. On the basis of some fixed constraints, such as the level and size of the basement, the terrain falling to the south and that the developer wanted proximity to the forest, the building cantilevers beyond the foundation of both gable walls.
