The French River marks the transition to the Canadian Shield, a landscape of granite scrapped bare by the passage of glaciers. In its descent from its headwaters, the River transforms from a fractured granite gorge, into a vast delta of sculpted granite islands and outcrops.

German architectural firm Gnädinger Architekten has converted a former textile factory into a Visitor Center – “Haus des Gastes” located in Beeskow, Germany. The project comprises a new modern building and a restored historic industrial complex which are connected by a glass bridge.

The architecture of the NVC takes the simplicity and elegance of a paper boat/plane as inspiration. The building is conceived as a hybrid of those images, both symbolically related to Newark historic development. In a particular way, our proposal can be defined as an instrument to observe the city in a different way.

Snæfellsstofa Visitor Center communicates the dignity of the surrounding nature and is closely connected to its immediate surroundings. It attracts visitors to its unique appearance and simultaneously works as an attractor for indoor and outdoor activities. The building is divided into three parts so that it can be utilized in different ways, depending on the season.

Bohlin Cywinski Jackson seizes on Grand Teton's natural drama with the elegant Craig Thomas Visitor Center.

There’s nothing formulaic about the National Park Service’s new Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center for the Grand Teton National Park in Moose, Wyoming. The jagged roofline evokes the storied mountain range to the west, on view beyond a glass wall that spikes as high as 30 feet above the floor. The sawtooth floor plan accentuates the view while keeping out afternoon sun. Stocky columns of Douglas fir march through the exhibition hall; not only do they brace the roof beams, they also hint that perhaps you’re emerging from a forest and into the meadow that lies beyond the windows.

Built for the Hanil Cement Company to educate visitors about concrete and how it can be recycled, architects for the Visitors Center and Guesthouse use a variety of construction and landscaping techniques. From various concrete casting methods to the use of recycled, broken pieces of concrete for tile and gabion walls, the building and displays will continue to evolve and change as new techniques are designed.
