Paris-based architectural firm Badia Berger architects has designed the 79 Logements PLUS located in Seine Left Bank Urban Development Zone Paris 13th Arrondissement, France.
"The facades overlooking the public space are calm, light and simple, in contrast to the domestic setting of the inside of the block, which is expressed by colours, external extensions, materials greenery and plants climbing the tower’s facades, which the residents are free to add to."

This new high school for the Louisiana Department of Education Recovery School District was part of a post-Katrina “quick start” construction program to accelerate the replacement of five damaged schools within an extremely aggressive timeline (6 months for design and 20 months for construction) while a new comprehensive masterplan for the New Orleans school system was underway.

Haifa University is built on the projection of a ridge of Mount Carmel that looks over the bay of this Mediterranean city. The site chosen for the Student Center building overlooks a deep valley as well as the bay and has a steep topography. Its upper part abuts the scenic road that extends through the entire campus, ending at the site. In order not to interfere with the view, the building’s roof had to be set below the level of the scenic road.

Designed for an anthropologist and a concert pianist, retiring from Phoenix, Arizona, to this small New Mexico town on a desert site fronting the Rio Chama—not far from Georgia O’Keefe’s famous home on the bluff above this house uses several relatively standard prefabrication systems.

This inner city site confronted the Architect, Michael Morris, with a number of challenges:
Overlooking on three sides
An adjacent Victorian cottage to the west boundary.
A barren three storey block of flats to the east boundary
Restrictive heritage controls exercised by the local government
A small site size of 264 square metres.
A mature peppercorn tree tumbling over the frontage from the adjacent site.

The site is located in the centre of beautiful small village Mala Lhota in the valley of the hilly countryside in the middle of Czech Republic. Existing rural buildings on the site were in very bad condition and therefore demolished and removed. The main design concept was to create building which would be traditional, modest and friendly to it’s neighbourhood and surrounding village context. The form of the new building complies with traditional Czech rural house.

Located in Auckland, New Zealand, and completed in 2008, this lovely two bedroom two bathroom residence was designed for a couple.
The white street facade is particularly impressive, with no windows and no discernible doors.
This property was nominated as one of the 16 best private homes built between 2007-2008.

The owners of this Victorian home wanted to maintain its traditional feel while injecting a modern feel and making it as eco-friendly as possible. The result is a beautiful space with open kitchen, roof top garden and plenty of natural light throughout.

This distinctive loft is located on the first floor of a historic warehouse on the Brouwersgracht in the centre of Amsterdam. The apartment is designed by Remco Wilcke of CUBE architecten and his partner Marloes van Heteren of SOLUZ. When they found the monument it was still in use as a warehouse, as two separate long and dark rooms of 100m2 each. They bought the place and hoped the council would let them change the status to ‘dwelling’, which they did after all the plans were submitted.

Conceived as a high school science building dedicated to the study of alternative energy, the new Energy Lab at Hawaii Preparatory Academy functions as a zero-net-energy, fully sustainable building. The project’s fundamental goal is that of educating the next generation of students in the understanding of environmentally conscious, sustainable living systems. The project targets LEED Platinum and Living Building Challenge certification. Recently completed in January 2010, the Energy Lab today strives as a living laboratory, furthering its educational goals as a functioning example of sustainability.

The Holmenkollen hill plays a significant part identifying Oslo. In the Oslo panorama its characteristic profile is a clear icon, up close its majestic steepness rises towards the sky, making heads tilt and from the top, the panorama view towards the fjord are fantastic. It is a building beyond conventions, and it is no wonder that it is one of Oslo’s most visited tourist attractions. To create a new slope on the soil of the old requires full awareness of its traditions.

Kindergarten Kekec is an extension of a typical Slovene prefab kindergarten from the 1980s. Situated in one of Ljubljana’s residential areas, Kekec answers the growing demand for kindergartens. This comes as a result of Ljubljana having witnessed considerable population growth as well as legislative changes and a planned increase in building density inside the highway ring surrounding the city.

Canadian design team  Open Form has shared their recent competition entry for the new Trois-Rivières Amphitheatre.
At the crossings of the St-Lawrence Seaway and the St-Maurice River, the new Trois-Rivières Amphitheatre presents itself under an elegant structure that opens up towards the water and creates a dynamic unifying device over the entire seating area, whether open or closed. Under the roof, sometimes material and sometimes transparent, a play of form and program mixes with the landscape creating an expansive field of physical and visual relationships between the built and natural environments that creates a new mixed-use urban field on the edge of the city.

A residence built on a two-tiered site with a level difference of 3 meters. Because of the concern remained about the credibility of embankment and retaining wall built along the housing development, the foundation was laid on natural ground beneath the lower tier which was more reliable as the supporting stratum.

Located at the Sea Ranch on an infill lot, we designed this 1,030 square foot house and 550 square foot guest house to create a threshold in the larger landscape, moving from the contained space of the hedge row to the open space of the meadow. We looked to some of the earlier agricultural forms along the north coast and paired the barn shape of the main house with the agricultural shed shape of the guest house to form a compound that creates a woodland garden on the entry side of the house.

Located within a large ravine system in a North Toronto neighbourhood, this private residence not only takes advantage of the surrounding expansive natural vistas, but also creates a close relationship with its immediate environment. Designed to accommodate the integration of life with nature, the external treatment of this house explores a carefully honed language of natural materials, while the slightly curved front façade is carefully sculpted, presenting a solid entity to the street.

The project at this residential area in Rome begins and foresees the merger of three apartments spread over 4 different levels and an additional two rooms – an area now used as a laundry – in the basement.
It is a house intended for a couple with children and considerable interest in art as well as a rather convivial way of life.

In an office floor of 18×10 meters, were removed and repositioned the ceiling panels, glass and wooden divisions of an existing traditional workplace with the aim of doubling the spatial feeling of this claustrophobic site and thus house the offices, services and a large creative workshop for an advertising agency.

Built on the slope of a small hill, La Cornette is a country house open to the pastoral landscape that surrounds it. Under a soaring roof resembling a nun’s cornet wimple is a roomy dwelling modelled on traditional Quebec houses of old that lodged large families and their relatives. This house for celebrations and holidays, designed for two families, is set into the naturally uneven terrain in a way that brings each level into direct contact with the surrounding natural environment. It offers a resting place for all guests under its large gable in a series of bedrooms and unusual sleeping areas.

The studio has recently designed the interior of the Nobis Hotel located in two historic late 19th-century buildings on Norrmalmstorg square in the heart of downtown Stockholm, Sweden.
The Nobis Hotel offers 201 rooms including 69 standard double rooms, 99 Superior rooms, 22 Deluxe rooms and 11 Suites.

Avant-garde newcomer Siki Im displays the clothing embedded beneath a layer of foam, ‘reinforcing the dichotomy of two environments – public and private, visible and invisible’.  This stand-alone retail installation is the first of its kind.

In 1987, the Berlin government organized an anonymous competition for an expansion to the original Jewish Museum in Berlin that opened in 1933.  The program wished to bring a Jewish presence back to Berlin after WWII.  In 1988, Daniel Libeskind was chosen as the winner among several other internationally renowned architects; his design was the only project that implemented a radical, formal design as a conceptually expressive tool to represent the Jewish lifestyle before, during, and after the Holocaust.
