Eldridge Smerin’s projects for Selfridges and Villa Moda possibly led to the design of this house for a director of a fashion company and on to the design of its London headquarters. When architects failed to obtain a consent for a new building on this leafy triangular site, the former nursery garden to the estate, Eldridge Smerin was asked to suggest a new design approach to secure a consent for a family house creatively extending the existing proto Arts and Craft house.

Belgium Architects firm Atelier D’Architecture Bruno Erpicum & Partners (AABE) has completed the Genets 3 house project in 2006.
This 10,000 square foot two story residence offers high ceilings, four bedrooms, a complementary mezzanine office and an outside swimming pool.

The Tea House is nestled within a leafy backyard of a suburban home. Constructed of bronze and glass, the new structure references the form of a Japanese lantern and functions as a tea house, meditation space, and stage for the family’s musical recitals. This project recently received a 2010 Washington DC AIA Award of Merit.

Located on the peninsula south of San Francisco, this house sits on an internal suburban flag lot. The previous 1950’s house, which was removed due to structural problems, featured mature landscaping and a manmade pond that the clients wanted to preserve. They wanted their new house to be a private retreat that maximizes the drama of the pond and takes advantage of the privacy of the site. As advocates of year round outdoor dining and entertaining, the clients wanted a house that would open up to the landscape and have as many outdoor rooms as possible.

The clients hope to build a house in their site where the main building of traditional house was built for their young couple. There is residential section in the suburb, and enclosed with a store wall about a man tall. That stone is native pumice tuff of locality. In that isolated site by the tall stone wall, the relationship between the new house and the existent main house is different from a relationship with others and neighborhood.

The custumer is a banker and antique book collector. A four member family house.
In the Middle Ages the area, where the building is situated, was a cannon foundry. Customers bought a site where stood the old yellow brick lodge with a basement. Cleaning the plaster of a house revealed that the lodge had been built by ancient bricks which were made in a old Vilnius brick factories. Becouse of a historical and physical value of a house were considered to preserve it by wraping it with outer glass shape. Historical house structure have been carefully restored.
